Boys ResultsThe boys were primed and ready to run at a new course far from home. The boys earned 4 medals and placed 1st in the Junior-Senior Race. They also had a nice showing in the Freshman-Sophomore race placing 2nd of 11 teams represented.
Personal records were set by 10 athletes, including 3 returners. David Walker and Marko Tegeltija were named Dakota's athletes of the meet by the staff. David's personal record of 31 seconds is a sign of things to come. "Since I was training with the top guys (this summer), I had a feeling I could PR. So I went out strong and tried to hold on to the pace." -David Walker |
Girls ResultsThis marks the first time in school history that we ran a high school race while at camp. The kids were tired and worn down from a week of intense training, yet ran extremely well. Kayla Dobies won the girls Junior Senior race and captured the Meet MVP plaque, while 5 of her teammates also earned medals for placing in the TOP 7 of their grade. Kayla's time places her #6 all time for Seniors. Personal best times were set by 9 girls including returning Junior Ally Slone.
Ally and Rylie Yager were named Dakota's athletes of the meet by the coaches. Rylie said "the course was not too bad, I was a little confused about where it went so i wasn't thinking about running, just not getting lost. I just wanted to be done." "I really just tried to go out and compete with Monica and the girls from other teams, which lead me to have not only having tons of fun, but getting a great time too. I think it was one of my best and most fun faces of all time." -Ally Slone |
