Six Macomb County runners achieved all-state status on the first day of cross country finals at Michigan International Speedway. George Pohly Macomb Daily
Zander Cobb and Jack Kelke of Division 1 champion Romeo and Carson Nicoletti of Utica made all-state by finishing in the top 30 of combined performances from Section 1 and Section 2 races.
Jayden Harberts of Dakota and Madison Clor of Romeo made all-state in Division 1 girls races.
Grace Zdankiewicz of Regina was all-state in Division 2 girls.
Zander Cobb, left, and Jack Kelke finished 1-2 for Romeo in its run to the state Division 1 championship at MIS.
Cobb finished the 5,000-meter run in 15:32.33, and Kelke ran 15:41.94 to spark Romeo to its first state championship. Nicoletti, the county and a regional champion, finished in 15:54.22.
Harberts, a ninth-grader who won championships in county and regional meets, finished in 18:36.31. Clor's time was 19:06.25 as she led Romeo to sixth place.
Zdankiewicz, a regional champion, finished in 19:17.03.
Races for Divisions 3 and 4 are Saturday.
