For the last race of the season the running club took part in the Center Line Invitational on October 21. The race distance was 2.1 miles in length around Center Line High School. The club placed 3rd out of 8 teams with a team score of 91 points. Joey Jaster and Caden Ott both placed in the top 7 (3rd and 6th respectively), while Sam Dobies, Brandon Hoerauf and Julianna Kressner help to round out the scoring for the team with their 27th, 28th and 29th place finishes. In addition 7 other runners placed in the top 100 participants. Bringing home a team trophy is a great way to end a successful season.

On October 14, the Dakota middle school running club participated in the Youngsters Invitational at Delia Park. Even with the unfavorable weather and course conditions, every runner finished their respective races. Joey Jaster, Caden Ott, Sam Dobies each earned a medal by finishing in the top 20 places.
Great group running helped Brandon Hoerauf and Shai McGahey finish within 15 seconds of each other. Each placed in the top 80 runners in the boys race that totaled almost 200 middle school boys. Within the girls race, the 7th and 8th graders helped lead the 19 member team through the mud and puddles with 7 runners finishing in the top half of the field. Strong performances were shown by Abby Bartsch, Simone Kramer, Maddie Rioux and Hannah Blair.

The Dakota Running Club runners battled strong today (October 10) at the Anchor Bay Invite, which included a sled hill that the runners climbed twice during the 1.5-mile course. With the beautiful weather conditions, great first-time performances were posted by Allison Ferguson (12:47), Shai McGahey (11:25) and Kyle Peters (12:30). Five of the club’s runners were awarded medals (2 boys, 3 girls) by placing in the top 25 of their respective races.
The girls were well represented with a strong pack of runners that included Emmy Glotzbach, Ainslie Vanneste, Heidi Palmer and Allison Ferguson. who all finished within 30 sec of each other. The boys were able to place 4 runners in the top half of the field for a great finish to the middle school races.

Macomb MS XC Championships

On Thursday, October 2, the Dakota Middle School Running Club took part in the Macomb County Middle School Cross Country Championships held at Stony Creek Oak Grove. The other teams competing were Romeo, Armada, L'anse Creuse East, and L'anse Creuse North. In total 26 Seneca and Iroquois runners ran either the 7th/8th grade 2mi race or the 6th grade 1 mile.
The Girls 7th/8th graders were lead by 2 top 10 finishers: Sam Dobies and Julianna Kressner (both 7th graders). With great times run by all the girls Dakota placed fifth with a team score of 79 pts.
8th grader Joey Jaster paced the Dakota 7th/8th graders in their 2 mile race with a 12th place finish and time of 13:23.
The 6th grade mile was the largest race of the day with 76 participants. Caden Ott finished 3rd overall with a time of 6:07, while Ainslie Vanneste and Katie Slone both placed in the top 15 with times of 7:39 and 7:45 respectively.
